Chihuly Glass at the Desert Botanical Gardens

I visited N this weekend up in Phoenix and he took me on a date to the Chihuly Glass Exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens. The fluid qualities and bright colors of the glass offered a stunning contrast to the subtle, structural forms of the desert. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the event.

  1. great pictures! I really like your shot of the electic saffron sculpture and the balance between the sky, sculpture, and people. I can almost hear the humm of the transformers!

  2. Chihuly makes some awesome artwork. I saw his work in Milwaukee while I was in college. My question is how in the world does he ship those around to galleries & museums???

Lots and lots of semis. (True story.) And, I would imagine, really good packing. ;)

  4. Yeah, I heard something like it took 40 people 2 weeks or so to put it all together. It was pretty incredible, especially to see it at day and at night.

And the buzzing sculpture was my favorite...the noise sounded like a swarm of bees. For some reason that was comforting to me...am I strange? Probably :)
